Mole Removal

Most of us have moles on our body.  They tend to appear during the first 2 decades of life and people with white skin can expect an average of 30 moles, though some have up to 400.

The most common type of moles are skin tags, raised moles and flat moles.

If you have moles that are unsightly or raised, then mole removal offers a simple solution.

The procedure is ideal for:

  • moles on the face, neck or chest
  • ugly-looking moles
  • large or raised moles that get in the way of clothing

Mole Testing

Most moles are benign (harmless) but if you wish, or if the Surgeon recommends it, we can arrange for testing of moles (hystology report) to put your mind at rest.  This is an optional extra that you may wish to consider.

Mole Removal Procedure

Mole removal is a very simple procedure which is carried out under local anaesthetic as a day case.  It will take less than half an hour to complete and you can then return home.

There will be a small scar after healing which will intially be covered by a dressing of some sort, depending on the location and size of the mole removed.

Scars are permanent and can take up to a year to fade after the initial redness has dissipated.

The Hospital Group has developed exclusive Tamanu Balm to help with the healing of scars after surgery.  Tamanu Balm contains a variety of exclusively selected natural ingredients which possess a unique capacity to promote the formation of new tissue, therefore accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin. The balm is also moisturizing to help smooth and soften the skin as well as reduce the visible appearance of scars.  This product is available in our clinics or from the online shop.
