Brow Lift

brow_liftThe brow lift is a procedure which specifically targets loose skin and wrinkles on the forehead.

This procedure is ideal for:

  • People with a "saggy" appearance to the forehead
  • Wrinkles, deep lines, loose skin on the brow
  • Both women and men
  • A brow lift may be all it takes for a younger looking face.  Alternatively, it may be completed as part of a Face Lift or in conjunction with other procedures such as eye bag removal, eye lid rejuvenation, or neck lift surgery

About the Brow Lift Procedure

This procedure will tighten the skin from the brow to the hairline, smoothing deep lines and wrinkles for a younger looking forehead and brow area.  The eyebrows will be raised which will give a more open appearance to the eyes in particular as well as rejuvenating the face as a whole.

The Surgeon starts by making incisions above the hairline at the temples, following the natural hair line. Excess skin will be removed and facial tissue and muscle separated.  Any excess fat may be suctioned.

The excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into position.  Most of the scars will be hidden within your hair and in the normal creases of your skin.  The result is a smoother, tighter forehead.

Your Consultation

Your free consultation is a good opportunity to discuss facial rejuvenation surgery with a surgeon.  They understand the very individual nature of this surgery and can give honest recommendations on what you are trying to achieve.

Your surgeon will look at your medical history, listen very carefully to your requirements and give you honest, expert advice on whether brow lift surgery is the right choice for you.

Depending on your requirements, you may be advised to have alternative procedures or a combination of procedures.  Other procedures that may be considered instead of or as well as a brow lift include:

Your Surgeon will advise on the benefits as well as the risks of undertaking facial surgery and will outline what to expect at the hospital, explaining the procedure in detail and the recovery/healing process as well as aftercare.

We take the consultation stage very seriously at The Hospital Group and provide this service free and without any further obligation, so that you can be fully informed about your cosmetic surgery options.

Post-Operative Healing

Eveyone is different, but you should prepare for some early pain, discomfort, swelling and bruising after surgery.  It is major surgery and there will be a recovery stage.

Your surgeon will advise on the most appropriate aftercare during the first few weeks of healing. The initial bruising should last 7-10 days so most people plan to have some time at home before returning to work or normal activities.

The scar from surgery will take time to fade fully - up to a year in some cases.  However, it will normally be hidden by the hairline so after the initial bruising has gone, it should be undetectable to anyone but you.

The Hospital Group has developed exclusive Tamanu Balm to help with the healing of scars after surgery.  Tamanu Balm contains a variety of exclusively selected natural ingredients which possess a unique capacity to promote the formation of new tissue, therefore accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin. The balm is also moisturizing to help smooth and soften the skin as well as reduce the visible appearance of scars.  This product is available in our clinics or from the online shop.

During your medical consultation your surgeon will point out that the skin will continue to age even after surgery.  However, non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment such as Anti Wrinkle Treatment can be considered to maintain an improved overall result.

Your Decision

Only you can decide whether the operation is right for you, but your surgeon and Patient Care Coordinator will help you make an informed choice with individual advice based on our years of expertise.

During your medical consultation your surgeon will point out that the skin will continue to age. It is important that you understand that the ageing process will not stop after a browlift.
