Medication
While surgical hair restoration is the only permanent hair loss treatment solution, there are hair loss medications that may be used as stand alone treatments or prescribed in conjunction with a hair transplant procedure as part of an overall customised treatment plan.
These medications play a role in reversing hair loss and in slowing down future loss and work very well for some patients, but not necessarily all patients.

- Minoxidil and Minoxidil with Progesterone

Medications do take time to work with some patients having to wait up to 6 months or a year to see the results. It is not uncommon, for a patient to experience some amount of shedding in the first few months of getting started taking the medication. All drugs should be taken under the care and advisement of a physician.
Sustained reversal or slowing of hair loss is contingent upon taking the medication properly and consistently. Discontinued use of a medication will cause a patient to return to the degree of hair loss they had prior to taking the medications.
