Porcelain Crown Bridges

"Bridges" are similar to crowns.  They are made of porcelain and are used to replace missing teeth or cover broken teeth.

However, the key difference is that bridges consist of a number of porcelain crown "teeth" used to fill larger gaps and spaces, where as a crown is for just one tooth.

Bridges can be fitted in 2 ways:

  1. Over existing teeth provided the root is healthy (as shown in the picture above)
  2. Fixed with a dental implant as shown below

Bridges are in dental treatment plans to:

  • Cover damaged or unattractive teeth
  • Support a large filling where there isn’t enough tooth remaining
  • Protect weak teeth
  • To restore an attractive smile
  • Replace missing teeth

The Hospital Group uses high quality porcelain.  The colour is carefully selected to blend in with your own teeth and porcelain means that there is no unsightly black line at the gum.

Fitting a bridge requires at least two appointments.  The first is for preparation and impressions,  and a second appointment is for fitting the final crown.
