Arm Lift Surgery
The arm lift procedure is technically known as "brachioplasty".
It is recommended for patients with loose, saggy upper arms that hang down. This can be a result of weight loss, ageing or a combination of both.
The condition is commonly referred to in the media as “bingo wings”, but for its sufferers, causes real embarrassment as well as restricted clothing choices. Excess skin underneath the arm is quite difficult to change with exercise or creams. Arm lift surgery can help patients achieve slim, toned arms by removing the excess skin and tissue to create a much leaner shape with tauter skin.

Arm Lift Procedure
1: Excess skin is removed from underneath the arm as shown. Any surplus fat could also be removed using liposuction to create a nicely contoured arm shape
2: The Surgeon carefully stitches the remaining skin. Without the loose arm skin, a much slimmer arm shape is revealed
The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic in highly equipped specialist facilities. You will spend the first night in hospital before returning home.
Even though you will be required to wear certain dressings initially, the overall improvement in your shape will be evident straight after surgery.
Healing and Recovery
There will be some scarring and scars can take up to a year to fade. However, your surgeon will work hard to keep this as inconspicuous as possible below the arm.
Arm lift patients find that once the dressings are removed, they are able to wear short sleeved tops once again to show off their new arm shape.
You will be advised to take a couple of weeks off work and avoid lifting or driving for 4 weeks.
The Hospital Group has developed exclusive Tamanu Balm to help with the healing of scars after surgery. Tamanu Balm contains a variety of exclusively selected natural ingredients which possess a unique capacity to promote the formation of new tissue, therefore accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin. The balm is also moisturizing to help smooth and soften the skin as well as reduce the visible appearance of scars. This product is available in our clinics or from the online shop.
